I haven't planned my route road for road, as it were, but I've got a pretty good idea where I'm going to go.

The first thing is to get to Portsmouth for the 20:15 ferry to St Malo on June the 3rd. I thought about doing it in one hit, but at a distance of just over 100 miles I could be putting myself under a lot of pressure if I get lost (which is inevitable at some point!) or have some sort of problem. So I'm going to split it into two days. I'll have an easy ride through London and stop somewhere like the Dorking area for the night before giving myself another easy day to Portsmouth.

Once I get into France I'm going to follow some of the Voies Vertes out to the Atlantic coast. I'll then continue as far south as Bordeaux before cutting across to the Med on the routes that follow the Gironde and the Canal du Midi. I'll then head up into Provence and make my way over to the Alps. My plan is to go over some of the famous mountains, but I'll wait until I get to them before saying I'm going to do them!

I shall then head into Switzerland and then follow the Rhine through Germany. Depending on time and how I feel, I might head up to Hoek van Holland to get the ferry to Harwich or maybe I'll ride through Belgium across to Calais and get a ferry from there.

I reckon I'm looking at at least 2,000 miles and maybe 4 or 5 weeks of riding. Whatver happens, it's going to be epic!
