For 2026 I am heading north on the train to Newcastle. I shall then ride the Hadrian's Wall route and then work my way home via the Lake District, North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District. I shall also be riding England's highest paved road... and the lowest road. Oh, I'll also pop into the highest and lowest pubs on the way!

An early start to ride into London to catch a train. Then I start the Hadrian's Wall route from Newcastle, ending up just north of Hexham.

A hot day filled with plenty of Roman stuff! I took in Vindolandia and a fairly long section of Hadrian's wall. I'm at a pleasant campsite close to the coast in Bowness-on-Solway.

A long day along the coast. Very hot, but a refreshing breeze of the sea kept it comfortable. At a campsite near Sellafield. There's even a printed emergency procedure in case it goes pop!

I knew today was going to go over two fairly hefty passes and a couple of intermediate climbs too. A bit of a shock to the system after such a flat day yesterday, but I soon found my climbing legs.
